Klementowice – May 26, 2015

On May 26 in Klementowice the Lasting Memory Foundation initiated and performed a commemoration of approximately 350 Jews murdered by the German soldiers in June 1942. At the place of their execution and burial, we set up a memorial stone and held an unveiling ceremony which was attended by school youth, residents of Klementowice and neighboring villages, representatives of Embassies, clergy and local authorities.

Lublin – April 26, 2015.

In Lublin, there took place a ceremony of presenting medals and recognizing Maria and Józef Sadurski from Końskowola as Righteous Among the Nations of the World for rescuing Margita Weiss-Lowa, a Slovak Jewish woman whom they had been hiding in their barn for over a year. The Lasting Memory Foundation supported the process of honoring the courageous Sadurski family.

Podedwórze – March 11, 2015.

In a School Complex in Podedwórze, the Junior High School students listened to the lecture by Zbigniew Niziński concerning the stories of people from the times of war. The pupils were told about the places of National Remembrance in which the Poles of a Jewish origin, murdered at the Holocaust, lie buried. The participants were familiarized with the stories of such places in the neighboring villages. They were also told about the need for remembrance, respect and assistance to others. The meeting was attended by the Principal of the School Complex Dorota Pawłowska and the teachers.

 
Brzyska Wola near Leżajsk – March 6, 2015.

The pupils of a school in Brzyska Wola were familiarized with the symbols of Jewish matzevot which can be found at old Jewish cemeteries. They were told about the figures of Jewish children who had survived the war and Poles who had not hesitated to sacrifice everything to save another person’s life. The participants were also shown pictures of the graves of the people murdered during the war, commemorated by the Foundation.

 
Kozodawy near Hrubieszów – March 5, 2015.

In a Junior High School in Kozodawy, Zbigniew Niziński delivered a presentation on commemorating the people and places of the common history of Poles and Jews. The pupils and teachers were also shown and told about the graves of the Jews murdered by the Germans at the Death March of December 1939, which had been commemorated by the Foundation. The Death March route went past the place where the Junior High School is now situated. Over a thousand people were killed at the March.
