Strzelce near Bialopol- July 15, 2009

The Lasting Memory Foundation organized a ceremony of unveiling the memorial commemorating 14 Jews murdered by the Nazis and buried in Strzelce, 1942. The ceremony took place on 15 July 2009. The monument was founded by Harley Lippman, a member of the United States Commission for the Preservation of America's Heritage Abroad.






Among the participants of the ceremony were: Harley Lippman with his son Adam, the Chief Rabbi of Poland- Michael Schudrich, Deputy Chief of Mission at U.S. Embassy Warsaw – Pamela Quanrud, local authority representatives, clergymen, local residents and witnesses to the killing. Zbigniew Nizinski from the Lasting Memory Foundation led the ceremony. Harley Lippman and his son Adam unveiled the memorial.86 members of Lippman's family were killed during the Holocaust. A local poet, Jozef Ciszewski, presented the poem prepared specially for the occasion. Zvi Rav-Ner, the Ambassador of Israel to Poland, issued a letter which was read out during the ceremony. The participants could also hear the accounts of the witnesses- Wanda Jawor and Kazimierz Ciszewski. In May 1942 the Nazis came to the village and captured the Jews. 14 of them were put in a row, shot to death and buried on the execution site.
